چکیده
In this study, metal matrix-based composite (MMC) was subjected to Equal Chanel Angular Pressing (ECAP) in several passes determine the influence of deformation on hardness samples. Composite based A356 aluminum alloy and reinforced with Fly Ash (FA) particles obtained by compo casting method. The microstructural analyses microhardness measurements were performed cast pressed Vickers measurement samples different indentation load sizes: HV0.02, HV0.05, HV0.1 HV0.2. Results showed that increases after each ECAP pass. lowest value 42 (HV0.02) as well arithmetical mean 46 (HV0.2) measured at composite. greatest 107 (HV0.1) highest 94 three-time sample. mathematical model named Meyer’s law used for data analysis. sample, a decrease detected increasing load, termed Indentation Size Effect (ISE), confirmed Meyers index n = 1.9112 < 2. Pressed opposite behavior—an increase load—where > 2 indicated Reverse (RISE). For all samples, high coefficient determination R2 0.99 described phenomenon well.

Temperature dependence of the indentation size effect
The influence of temperature on the indentation size effect is explored experimentally. Copper is indented on a custom-built high-temperature nanoindenter, at temperatures between ambient and 200 0C, in an inert atmosphere that precludes oxidation. Over this range of temperatures, the size effect is reduced considerably, suggesting that thermal activation plays a major role in determining the l...
متن کاملSize effect in equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) process
The influence of the sample size (diameter while keeping the length constant) in equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) of pure aluminum is examined using finite element method (FEM) and experiment. Different sized aluminum rods were processed via ECAP and the effect of sample size on the strain homogeneity, process load, and the ratio of the friction to the total force were evaluated. The resul...
متن کاملThe plastic behaviour of silicon subjected to micro-indentation
Micro-indentation is widely used in evaluating the mechanical properties of ceramics. It is also an important measure in the study of machinability of brittle materials. Because of the complexity of interaction in the vicinity of the contact zone between the indenter and work material, an analytical or experimental method is unable to predict the detailed evolution process of deformation. With ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Volume Fractions on Hole Stress Concentration in Composite Lamina Subjected to Matrix Plasticity
In this paper, the stress concentration around a hole in the single layer composite materials with long fibers is examined. The single layer has an infinite length, limited with and instant thickness and is loaded by a constant tension force p at infinity. The width of the lamina is considered to be finite and bears a hole as a defect. Due to presence of excessive shear stress in the matrix bay...
متن کاملInterpretations of Indentation Size
For very shallow indentations in W, Al, Au, and Fe-3wt%Si single crystals, hardness decreased with increasing depth irrespective of increasing or decreasing strain gradients. As such, strain gradient theory appears insufficient to explain the indentation size effect (ISE) at depths less than several hundred nanometers. Present research links the ISE to a ratio between the energy of newly create...
